Have you tried to create a HTML email recently. It’s not easy.
I’m not the only one who thinks so, in fact there’s a whole new movement Email standards project which was started by Campaign Monitor.
What is this?
Quite a few years back Zeldman (among others) pioneered web standards but email hasn’t caught up and in the case of Outlook 2007 it’s moved backwards.
If you want to send out an email that looks the same in everyone’s inbox you will (most probably) have to use tables coupled with inline styles. If you’ve ever had the misfortune of possessing a client who wants an email sent via Outlook 2003/2007 using their built in themes you will have contemplated suicide.
