Removing typographic widows in WordPress page titles
A widow in typography is the one lowly word that gets displayed on a line of its own within a heading. Typographers and designers often go nuts when they see the main headings on a website have widows so here’s an easy fix to appease them:
Coming soon
It seems you can’t move for beautifully designed ‘Coming Soon’ pages for web apps on the interwebs these days – so for my latest project I’m getting in on this design trend.
Back to school with guerilla training
This week I found myself back in the classroom learning how to make iPhone apps with some other developers.
Beauty in profit
If you’re reading this blog, you’re most likely a web designer/developer and you most likely enjoy your job too, but let’s not be shy because as much as we enjoy working in this industry we’re also trying to make a living.
What web designers can learn from George Clarke
For those, who do not know, George Clarke is a highly successful British architect and he presents a TV show on channel 4 in the UK called, The Home Show. Tax
The fact that I spent Saturday morning on a course on the subject of tax with several other freelancers, says a lot about how much my life has changed recently.

Big Chip Awards 2009 nomination
Last week I got the news I’d been waiting weeks for – I had been nominated for a 2009 Big Chip Award.
How low is too low when it comes to wages?
Last week, I noticed a job listing on the GeekUp Job Board. The employers were looking for a freelance web editor with "excellent writing skills" but the wage was a mere £6.25 per hour.
The Autopsy of a failed web app
It’s time to stop pretending; Cart45, the web app released in July 2008 was not the resounding success I or my employers had hoped for. This post, will undoubtedly burn some bridges, but I hope something can be learnt from it.
Bye bye one column article page
Like any self-respecting blogger, when I make a small realign to my blog’s design I feel I must make a big song and dance about it. So here goes…
The cost of burglary
Two weeks ago, I arrived home to find my home had been broken into and most of my computer equipment had been stolen.
